Noticing observable ways of thinking, interacting, and creating for equitable instruction
Our project investigates teacher noticing of children’s “seeds” of algebraic thinking – in particular, those expressed by gestures and actions. We implement a strategically designed video club to support pre-service teachers’ noticing and interpreting of student thinking, and then conduct follow-up classroom observations to see how teachers notice their students’ multimodal algebraic thinking.
