Professor Sang Bok Lee serves in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Maryland (UMD), College Park. His academic foundation was established at Seoul National University, Korea, where he earned his BS in Chemistry, MS in physical chemistry with a focus on surface science and spectroscopy, and PhD in physical organic chemistry specializing in molecular recognition.
Prior to joining UMD in 2002, Dr. Lee gained valuable industry experience as a senior research engineer at LG Semicon (now Hynix), where he worked on DRAM technology for two years. He subsequently completed his postdoctoral research at the University of Florida.
His current research portfolio encompasses the development of ultrafast electrochromic devices, supercapacitors, and solar cells, with particular emphasis on electrochemical synthesis of nanotube structures. Additionally, his work investigates fundamental properties of nanotubes and nanotube membranes, including molecular transport, wetting phenomena, and diffusion characteristics.
