Imani Timity is a sophomore from Bowie, MD, studying psychology at the University of Maryland. Her interests include dance, drawing, and music. In the future, she aims to examine how these types of arts can potentially improve a person’s well-being. Her dance experience reaches from multiple styles such as tap, jazz, hip-hop, ballet, contemporary, etc. The practice of dance helps her to explore the connection between the mind and body. After receiving her bachelor’s degree, she plans to continue her education by pursuing her master’s degree and Ph.D. to ultimately become a clinical psychologist.
Imani wishes to gain experience and new perspectives from a different environment while still maintaining a sense of home with her College Park Arts Scholars community. She is interested in exploring different genres of art through field trips and taking diverse art classes. In her capstone project, Imani intends to explore human behavior and the “psychological forces” that motivate them. She wants to connect how the arts, such as dance, can drive human behavior.
