The creative process was fluid in the creation of this workshop. The idea was to highlight writing as an art form, which is consistently becoming a lost art in this age of information. While researching, it became evident that art was not only a lost art form, but was extremely important for the mental health of everyone involved. Stiliana Milkova from the Center for Research on Learning and Teaching states that there are a few different steps to creating a fantastic lesson plan: outlining learning objectives, preparing an introduction, having specific activities to enhance learning, asking frequent questions and taking breaks to ensure students’ understanding of the concepts, and having a conclusion/closing activity. These were skills that I implemented into my lesson plans each week, as they allowed me to have freedom over the classroom activities while also maintaining structure and habit. A big part of my creative process revolved around the students; rather than focusing on the output that my students created, I wanted to focus on their individuality and expression.
