PSYC Good Deed Day is a grassroots effort aimed at promoting small random acts of kindness and good deeds across the world by leveraging an international network of Departments of Psychology. Our goal is to demonstrate the positive benefit that kindness can have on both those who receive the acts and those who engage in acts of kindness.
If you're a departmental leader, you can choose to participate however you wish and at whatever level makes most sense to you. The only centralized efforts entail this website, the tracker, and whatever resources people wish to contribute to promoting the benefits of kindness for mental health and wellness. Here are some suggestions of possible activities:
Share information about the day with colleagues and students and encourage them to participate
Ask instructors to announce the day in their classes and, if appropriate, share information/slides on the science of kindness
Organize a student-community event to celebrate kindness
Engage with your local Psi Chi chapter and ask them to promote the event on campus
Share the date with your alumni network and encourage them to participate
Encourage participants to log their good deed to the tracker so we can see our impact globally
Do one kind thing yourself!
If you're someone who just wants to contribute something positive to the world, then check out the example good deeds and find something that suits you personally. And, while you're at it, share PSYC Good Deed Day with a friend!
Just finding out about this and want to be added to our list of Departments? Fill out this brief survey and we will add you to our list! Although we're organizing this as an coordinated effort amongst Departments of Psychology at colleges and universities, anybody is welcome to participate!
