Felix Gomez, a sophomore from Columbia, MD, is currently studying Atmospheric and Oceanic Science at the University of Maryland. He is interested in a wide range of arts - from drawing, painting, and photography to playing cello and going to concerts.
Felix has painted two murals in his hometown - one as a volunteer, and one professionally. In his work, he seeks to capture the movement and patterns of nature through freehand and flowing lines. He finds inspiration via spontaneity and capturing the moment, whether that moment is in real life or his mind.
In his time at the university, Felix's objective is to develop and broaden the range of his own artistic skills, while sharing the joy of art through community and public art forms. He also hopes he will find more opportunities to paint in public settings as a College Park Arts Scholar, and he looks forward to building relationships and connections within the program.Â
Felix is also a member of Epsilon Eta, the professional environmental fraternity on campus. In the organization, he hopes to be able to volunteer frequently and navigate the overlap between his interests in art and the environment.
After graduating with a bachelor's degree in Atmospheric and Oceanic Science, he plans to seek higher education in oceanography while continuing to work on his art.
