During my capstone project, I learned about effective communication, time-blocking, and iteration techniques. I came into this program as someone who had already done murals, but I was shaky on fine details like time management and pitching my ideas to clients. The process of finding a location for my mural during the fall semester taught me a lot about persistence and the boatload of planning work that goes into a large-scale project like this. I also learned that there are always bumps in the road over the course of a project like mine - I had trouble with locations, communications, and funding, but I learned to persevere and think critically to solve these issues as they came. Additionally, learning how to give an effective pitch for my project was one of the most impactful things I learned in this program. This skill applies to both my project and other things like cover letters and presentations where you need to concisely and persuasively give your case on something.
