Teams • Partners • Contributors • Users • Allies
Sustainable projects think beyond their core teams, and even beyond their base of users, to a wider range of surrounding groups and communities that might help sustain projects in different ways.
Allies, users, contributors, partners, teams -- all of these groups contribute to project sustainability in different ways. These categories are fluid: people and communities move between them, and roles shift over time.
But most importantly, community-centered projects are only sustainable when they're helping to sustain communities in turn, in some way. This is the notion of mutual sustainability.
