Research Interests

My research focuses on how lithium in garnet can record fluid infiltration events and fluid-rock interactions in metamorphic settings. I take a two-pronged approach, focusing on in situ lithium concentration measurements of natural garnet samples from regions that have a well-constrained fluid history and performing experiments to address temperature, composition, and oxygen fugacity effects on lithium diffusion in garnet. I use analytical methods such as LA-ICP-MS, EPMA, and SIMS for both natural garnets and experimental run products. Experimental lab work is divided between sealed silica tube experiments and gas mixing furnace experiments.
