Nguyễn
Typography on US Letter Cardstock
This work is a portrait of Kaylin Nguyen, a second-generation American who is also Vietnamese. In this piece, they recount life events, expanding on their core ideas of “self” identity, heritage & tradition, and values & beliefs resulting from the multiculturalism of being an immigrant’s child. In complement to the other works in this series, the text within the typography portrait reflects the effect, variance, and similarities across the different individuals. They all have connections to distinct countries and cultures but are united by the common factor of being born to immigrant parents as second-generation Americans.
