Threads of a Generation

Recycled Textiles
Threads of a Generation is a quilt made from recycled t-shirts that represent the artist’s personal relationship to the complex bridge between the nature she has explored, and the technology that consumes half of her brain. There has been a significant loss in publicly accessible places to enjoy outside, which has led to people replacing that loss with media available at their fingertips. Generation Z specifically has a unique perspective on technology’s impact, because they grew up in a transition period from an analog era to a digital age. The quilt’s sweeping landscape that dissolves into pixels encourages the audience to reflect on their own dichotomy between nature and technology.
