Iteration was an important component of the creative process of my capstone. I made many tapestry sketches and designs. This helped me to refine the final designs of my tapestries to make sure that they answered the central question of my capstone, "What are the different ways that our society objectifies women, and how do women persevere and continue to thrive despite these challenges?"
The biggest thing that I learned through my creative process for this capstone was killing my darlings. At the beginning, I had so many different ideas and concepts for this project that I wanted to incorporate all of them, but as a result of the limited amount of time that I had, I had to let go of some of my pieces and even some pieces that had already begun to develop. Through this process I was able to focus on the central question of my capstone and make art that represented that.
My work plan was delayed as I had to restructure my project. I utilized time management methods that were covered in CPSA250. The method that helped the most was time boxing. Each week, I outlined all of the tasks that I needed to complete and allocated time for each item on my agenda. Not only did this help me stay on track, but it also helped me to reduce my anxiety as I was able to streamline my thinking.
