Over the course of the 2025 spring semester, in CPSA 250 we have researched and utilized multiple techniques of the creative process. One of these techniques was “Killing Your Darlings”, which emphasized the idea of iterations and variations. The whole concept behind this technique was to make different iterations of your idea, and then “kill” off the aspects or ideas that didn’t have any purpose in conveying your message. In a project like this one there were many instances of “killing your darling” especially in the designing phase. The characters in this story were at first just loose ideas and concepts that when conveyed into an image, needed to be formed and sculpted. References were a great way to start this process and then with the help of killing your darling these designs were shaped, perhaps the clothes didn;t match the characters personally but I liked the outfit, I had to change it until I found something the fit the concepts that the character was centered around and help them express these ideas through their outfit. Another time that this technique was used was when the framing of the panels in the comic were made. Killing your darlings allowed for this comic to develop scenes that were more interesting and poses that were more dynamic.
