During the creation of my CPSA Capstone Project, I learned and harnessed the power of prototyping. Throughout the process of creation, I had to go through many iterations to reach final forms that I felt showcased the Mesoamerican culture on which my project is based. I learned not to put too much emphasis on the sculptures I made, and it allowed me to be more creative and free as I continued sculpting my pieces. One of the pieces I made in the creation of my project was the figure to the right, my sculpture of a lower jaw. At first, I wanted it to be the bottom of one of my instruments, but as I continued building it, I realized it didn't portray the shape I originally wanted. I decided to use the piece as a prototype on which I can practice my intricate hand-building and sculpting. The most important thing I learned about the creative process is to continue making something even if it's not exactly what I originally planned, as every iteration is a lesson and aids in the final creation process.
