What I learned throughout this Creative Process...
Throughout this creative process, I have learned not only the beauty of planning and execution but also how implementation and communication can provide a sense of relief. I had the opportunity to speak with my peers about how love persists across generations and how preserving culture can be essential to identity. I used creativity as a medium to understand the diverse backgrounds around me, while also applying time management and research skills to illustrate ethnographic narratives that encouraged both my peers and myself to dig deeper.
Reflecting on past memories and discovering the impact a photograph can have on one's development allowed me to recognize the depth of history and how it continues long after we are gone. Hearing stories from those who are no longer here became a way to connect deeply with culture and use creativity to highlight the importance of cultural preservation. By looking inward and encouraging my peers to do the same, I immersed myself in their cultures and lived experiences, many of which differ from my own.
As stated in The Diversifying Experience Model: Taking a Broader Conceptual View of the Multiculturalism– Creativity Link, “Diversifying experiences, such as exposure to new cultures, adversity, violations of expectations, or unusual or unexpected experiences, can have a positive influence on creativity”. Through creativity and storytelling, the past generations remain alive, and future generations are able to shape and carry forward the narratives that will one day be told again and again.
