The one huge takeaway I had with creating this film was the importance of the buildup beforehand. I’ve never made a film, meaning I had no idea how much work was in store for me. I had to learn how to manage my time properly which is exactly what the workshop for this project taught me. I had to create time blocks for myself to stay focused on every minor part of the project such as writing the script, creating the storyboard, scheduling filming days, and the editing process. The hardest part of all of this was to keep myself motivated and inspired to make sure I had the drive to truly create something I was proud of. Most of the time, I’d refer back to my main sources of inspiration to keep that creative energy fueling through my brain in order to keep this project in the back of my head while I take care of other things in my life.

Filming
Map
Filming occurred in mid-March and took over three days of planning, scheduling, and driving around campus to find the right spots to film the right scenes. Many scenes were recorded in places that didn't make the final cut when editing.
To the left is an image of the makeshift "camera dolly" we used to record the moving shots of the film. Using my cameraman's scooter and my phone tripod, we were able to roughly create smooth moving shots of me running.
Post-Production and Editing
Having experience editing videos in the past with Lightworks, I used the same program to edit my footage.
Over the next three to five weeks, I spent countless hours trying to master the visuals and audio to make a majority of the film.
A few cut scenes can be seen on the left of the image where my files were stored.
Music was always intended to be included, however, what was originally going to be stock music found online became custom-made with the help of my cousin, Andrew Quintana.
Andrew provided me with his FL Studio account and having some experience making music on other programs, I took the time needed to learn FL and together create our own piece for the soundtrack of the film.
This is also where most of the audio mixing was edited and mastered.
Artist Note:
All of these behind-the-scenes bits of the process were littered with failures of their own such as writing blocks, filming tech errors, and even scheduling conflicts. With some perseverance and grit, however, I made it to the end and worked hard to put together something that came out better than I orignally had envisioned!
