In class, Heather taught us about killing our darlings and remember to be mindful with our planning process. The Capstone project was a wonderful opportunity to mainly learn about skills when creating our ideas to life. As young college students, it is so easy for us to get caught up in diving to the final product. I learned how to be bored and how to brainstorm when there is nothing on my mind. The Wallace four-step model was preparation, incubation, illumination, and verification. In the beginning, I wanted to get a head start in my work. Thus, the bottom image shows the initial project I had in mind, but Heather helped me realize that the ideas were there, but the theme of my capstone was not there yet. At first I was very frustrated because I loved this poster I created, but it had to be just that. A pretty poster. Nothing else. It did not tie to a certain thesis (the meaning of the art). Then, I took Heather's feedback constructively to create my own unique pieces.
