When we were first told about the capstone projects I had an instant idea of what I wanted to do, which was writing children's books. During academic showcase i saw a sophomore that did an animation based on habitat loss for a few endangered animals. This gave me the inspiration to make children’s books based on endangered animals. I first did research on what animals were endangered and narrowed it down to two, the Amur leopard and Javan rhino. Then I realized with my workload in school I wouldn't be able to write and illustrate two children’s books so I chose one, the Javan rhino. I then did research on all aspects of the Javan rhinos life so that I could write about and draw out what their lives are like. I also researched ways that people can help save the rhinos so that the readers could feel like they can have some sort of impact on the Javan rhinos lives.
