When planning my workshop, I had a very concrete idea of what I wanted classes to look like in terms of content and structure. As the semester progressed, I experienced obstacles like getting covid, and I was forced to edit my schedule and lesson plans. I was able to be flexible in my lesson planning, as I had planned for potential hiccups. This forced change was a blessing as I explored different forms of warmups and types of activities which proved to increase student engagement. The confidence I gained in being able to lead each of these engagement opportunities will follow me in my future as I act as a teacher or facilitator moving forward.
One main struggle I faced throughout the semester was writing effective objectives. I used the objective writing resources provided by the ArtsScholars faculty and have begun to understand the methodology that is objective-writing. Bloom's taxonomy for measurable verbs was extremely helpful as I navigated this task. While I do not believe I am by any means capable of writing successful objectives on the first try, I am better than I was at the beginning of the semester and have experienced positive growth.
