Throughout this creative process I have learned how much work and effort goes into preparing for one ballet class. It definitely makes me more appreciative of the dance teachers I had growing up. This project has related to my elementary education major through the act of prepping and teaching a class, so I am grateful for the time I've had to work on it. Additionally, I have learned that I tend to get stressed about working on projects, so I procrastinate. This has definitely been eye-opening for how I work on all of my school assignments.
One technique that we discussed during our time and attention management focus was single-tasking (Crenshaw, 2013). I applied that concept to my capstone by focusing on one aspect of the project at a time so that I didn't get too overwhelmed.
A big portion of my creative process was coming up with the dance movements that I wanted to teach my participants. This was tricky because I wanted to make sure that I was teaching some fundamental ballet, but I also wanted to make it accessible to all ability levels. Ultimately, I am really proud of the combinations that I came up with.
