My Creative Process

My creative process mostly revolved around the concept of “diversifying experiences.” This strategy encouraged the consumption of media to serve as an inspiration and new ways of thinking. One way that this was accomplished was through the search for portraiture in film. The 2022 film titled Amsterdam showcased a character who explored portraiture in a mostly abstract sense. This emphasized a need to break down images into smaller shapes in order to understand proportionality and showcase a relationship between subjects in the final creation. The process of diversifying experiences suggests that "unusual or unexpected experiences can have a positive influence on creativity" (Goclowska, Damian, & Mor, 2018). This was especially true throughout the creative process for this sibling portrait as I had no initial interest in the film but nonetheless watched it and began to experiment.
