While creating this project, I discovered a lot about how I work on long term projects. I attempted several different methods of time management: I made to-do lists for bits of my project I wanted to get done in a given day, I made detailed outlines for specific pieces of my project, and I tried time-boxing, a method of time management introduced to me during through CPSA250’s project management assignments wherein time is divided into chunks, with specific tasks being assigned to each chunk of time.
I utilized all of these methods and more with mixed success. The most success I had was in making outlines for different aspects of my project, as it helped me gauge how much time something was going to take, and allowed me to dedicate the time I needed to specific tasks. I had very little success with most other methods of time management, however; I frequently found myself ignoring my to-do lists, and falling behind on my time boxes, and overall found it very hard to be productive when I wanted to. Instead I did most of the project in spontaneous bursts lasting many hours. Despite this chaotic workflow, I was able to find time to do the work I wanted to, and do not feel that my project was rushed. I found that the best way to manage my unpredictable phases of productivity was to leave myself with a flexible schedule without major commitments during my free time. This allowed me to work on my project when I felt I was in the mindset to do so, instead of forcing myself to at other times
