Throughout this capstone, I have learned how to organize and manage a long-term art project. When I was brainstorming what to do for my capstone, I didn't think about how many intricate, detailed steps that would need to be planned out in order to sucessfully finish on time. I knew I needed to take photos and put them together, but I had not thought about recruiting models, picking fonts and cover photos, and writing descriptions. The magazine was very dependent on other people. Without the models, there would have been no magazine at all. It was definitely a struggle to find enough people willing. Recruitment took up a lot more time than I had initially realized.
In CPSA250, there was a Learning Agreement assignment that detailed any plans that had to be made for the project to be completed. Within the agreement, there was a workplan section that broke down each week and what needed to be done before ArtsFest. With my magazine being dependent on the models, this had to be changed around quite a few times. However, having the workplan itself made me feel better about still finishing on time because I was able to delegate tasks differently and visualize each week's schedule.
My own creative process included looking into current trends on social media and in editorial magazines. I also looked into photographers who I admire and their work to consider how I want my photos to look. I created multiple Pinterest boards to visually formulate my ideas. From there, I created sketchbook pages that included a write-up, outfit ideas, and inspiration photos in order to set the scene for myself.
