The process in which I have developed and curated this project has been very insightful and perceptive, especially for myself as an artist. Not only did I develop my skills more as an artist and expand my experience in mediums, I did some introspection on the development of my identity, specifically focused on the racial aspect of my identity. It forced me to critically think about the ways I have related to this development model and reflect on how growing up in a culture different from the one I experience at home has affected me. I am glad to be able to combine these two efforts into a physical artwork that truly reflects my journey through this process.
I learned a lot through my CPSA250 in terms of harnessing my creativity and learning to manage my time throughout the spring semester to ensure I would be on track to finishing my project and make it the best quality I could achieve. Towards the beginning stages of my project, I did a lot of mind wandering, which was an exercise introduced to me through this class. This allowed for my mind to explore new concepts and ideas with constraining or guiding myself through specific ways of thinking. I feel this really allowed me to creatively develop my project and experiment with different concepts of growth, although I ultimately decided on using the Mugunghwa flower as my symbol.
