Poetry, watercolor, collage, photography
This zine encapsulates the artist's practice of writing down her thoughts to store away as poetry prompts. Inspired by junk journaling, she collected scraps to display that these prompts can come to her anywhere. Personal photographs show some of the most beautiful places she has been to that often inspire her poetry. The artist used watercolors to tie the photos together. The audience of this piece is those who appreciate the aesthetics of inspiring places.

Colored pencils, paper
My zine was about all my favorite things. I incorporated one of my favorite artists, Aya Takano and also hand drew/colored my own designs with colored pencils that matched the art. I also added in my favorite artist, Beabadoobee. I used collaging. I added cut up designs in the background and added small parts from her Beatopia album. For the last two pages, I added pics of some outfits I like and shoes as well while adding designs like the first two pages to make my entire zine cohesive.

What better place is there to see the inner workings and interests of a person than their room? It's the perfect reason to demonstrate anything about me in whatever way possible. Although ironically I would be conceptually locked in a box which would be my room, the idea of my “room” was essentially endless and freeing. I could include anything I wanted without feeling like it was unnecessary. A person’s room is one of their most personal things, and “My Room” is my way of opening up to other people about my interests/who I am as a person.

This zine hopes to capture the hearts of pet lovers in the audience, motivating them to appreciate their own pets in a more fulfilled way. It explores aspects of pet ownership and the positive traits that pets can add to our lives. The zine uses photographs of my personal pets, as well as pets from other places, including a variety of animals from horses to bearded dragons. It combines these images in a cohesive way, using a cool color scheme, text, and drawings to convey the joy and excitement of having pets.

Digital
My zine is based on the third verse of “The Calling” by The Amazing Devil off of their 2021 album Ruin. As it takes the reader through the lyrics, it explores my personal journey with the group of friends I am so lucky to call mine. The threads of cool colors symbolize the favorite colors of each member of our group. Even though they start out separate, they braid together as one. By using digital painting, collage, and photography, I hope to present this love letter to the people I care about. Thank you to Cintamest and beyond <3

Collage
My final zine is based on life and fashion in the year 1979. I am interested in vintage fashion, so I wanted to create outfits inspired by this. I have the entire year of 1979 in National Geographics so I used cuttings from those as both the fabric for the outfits I designed and the inspo pictures to their left. I was inspired by paper dolls in creating my designs, and my entire zine is made using collage. Each paper doll is a different version of me with an outfit for the relevant activity.

The zine reflects my desire to be a Romantic poet. Now, do I really want that? No. For one, I like antibiotics. Sure, I admire the writing of people like Percy Shelley and Lord Byron, and the “dark academica” aesthetic that draws a lot from their works and artistic reinterpretations of their work is big, but there’s plenty about them not to idolize. Through this zine, I acknowledge the attractive things about Romantic poetry while also highlighting the less talked about, darker aspects of the aesthetic.
