The Office of Special Events is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to assist with 2023 Commencement Ceremonies, occurring May 22-24.

Information on the various roles are available below. When filling out the volunteer registration form, please select the role you prefer to have. We will make every effort to accommodate your selection.
Processional Coordinators

Location – SECU Stadium and Jones-Hill House
Date and time – Monday, May 22, 2023 – approximately 4:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Duties – Help our graduates, faculty, and staff line up and process into the stadium.
Accessible Seating Coordinators
Accessible Seating Coordinators
Location – SECU Stadium and Tyser Tower Suites
Date and time – Monday, May 22, 2023 – approximately 4:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Duties – Guide guests in need of accessible seating to appropriate locations.
Greeting and Program Distribution

Location – SECU Stadium
Date and time – Monday, May 22, 2023 – approximately 4:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Duties – Give guidance to guests entering SECU Stadium
Information and Direction Booths
Information and Direction Booths
Locations – The Clarice, the M Circle, and the corner of Regents and Stadium Drive
Date and time – Monday, May 22 - Wednesday, May 24, 2023. Time slots are available from early morning to late evening. You can select your preferred date/time slot(s) when using the volunteer registration form.
Duties – Give guidance to guests as they arrive on campus.

Location: SECU Stadium
Time: 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Gates open: 5:30p.m.

Inclement Weather Plan
Inclement Weather Plan
In the event of inclement weather, the Main Ceremony will be moved to the same time on the following day (7:00 p.m. on May 23) – in this case, volunteers will be needed on May 23. When filling out the volunteer form, you can indicate your ability to participate in the inclement weather plan.

Volunteers will be supplied with a meal at the training and on Commencement day.
Each volunteer will receive a t-shirt and gift as a thank you for your support!
As we approach commencement, this page will be updated with more information about commencement day.
Training
Training
Volunteers need to be available to attend a training and luncheon on Friday, May 12 from 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. in SECU Stadium.
At the training session, you will be organized into a group based on your volunteer role. There you will meet your team leader and learn about the specifics of your assignment.
Specialized roles will receive individual training/briefing sessions.
