Program Structure:
- We cater to 5th grade students at Calvin Rodwell Elementary School
- Bi-monthly school activities is conducted by UMBC student volunteers from every STEM major.
- Each visit features a different area of STEM.
- Topics include: Chemistry, Engineering, Computer Science, Biology, and Mathematics.
- In Spring Semester, students will work in assigned teams to complete a group project based on a STEM subject
- At the end of the school year, the Project Symposium takes place on the UMBC campus. Students are also given a tour of campus and lunch at True Grits.
- Surveys are throughout the year to measure the program’s success and member participation.

- Allows UMBC students to connect to the Baltimore City community
- Gives faculty, staff, and UMBC students a chance to interact with fifth grade students
- Teaches students more about Baltimore City and engage in service learning
- Be part of fulfilling and furthering the mission of UMBC being a main producer of minorities in the STEM field
- Introduces family members of these students and sponsors to UMBC’s campus
