María García Puente is an Associate Professor of Spanish at California State University San Bernardino. She earned a B.A in English Philology and M.A in Applied Foreign Languages from the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain, and a M.A and Ph.D in Hispanic Literature from the University of Kansas. She teaches graduate and undergraduate courses on Spanish language, and Hispanic literature, cinema and culture. Her research areas are contemporary Spanish literature and cinema with a focus on fairy tales and gender studies. Her scholarship focuses mainly on feminist rewritings of fairy tales in 21st century Spanish cinema.

Erin K. Hogan is an Associate Professor of Spanish at the University of Maryland Baltimore County where she teaches courses in Spanish literature and film and Latin American cinema. She earned a Ph.D. from the University of California Los Angeles in Hispanic Languages and Literatures, where she specialized in the contemporary literature and film of Spain. Dr. Hogan is most fascinated by the articulations of power, observing how symbols and narratives travel and shape-shift across texts, temporalities, and terrains. She is author of, The Two cines con niño (Edinburgh University Press 2018), which utilizes the metaphor of ventriloquism to examine Francoist sovereignty through its control of the voice and body of the child protagonist dummy. Hogan’s scholarship, spanning the seventeenth century to the present and including both textual and audiovisual forms, has appeared in Tecmerín (2020), Revista de Estudios de Género y Sexualidades (2020), The Comparatist (2018), Open Cultural Studies (2017), Hispanic Research Journal (2016), International Journal of Iberian Studies (2016), Studies in Spanish and Latin American Cinemas (2013), and edited volumes. With Dr. García Puente, as Gynocine Project (see “Notes” from 2019) team member since 2017, she has co-contributed interviews of six women directors from Spain. Dr. Hogan also writes for the Spanish-language digital film magazine MacGuffin007.
