The Biology Outreach Program (BOP) is an organization established in 2021 by graduate students in the UMBC biological sciences department. We facilitate outreach events with K-12 schools in the local Baltimore area, with the goal of encouraging underprivileged students to see a future for themselves in STEM.
Our goals are:
To promote the involvement of underprivileged individuals in higher education.
To organize events in the surrounding communities that promote involvement in higher education.
To serve as a forum for discussion of issues relevant to graduate students, privilege, and inclusion in biological sciences.
