CLIENT University is migrating from Blackboard to Canvas. This requires an instructional designer with familiarity building courses in Canvas to review the content in the Blackboard courses and map the content for the Canvas platform. This requires close attention to the course structure, chunking and flow of content, placement of assets such as video, images, and assessments. The Instructional Design Migration Specialist will create a positive experience for faculty/staff during the migration period by performing the following responsibilities:


• Work independently to migrate established courses from Blackboard to Canvas, using an export/import process or a manual migration process as necessary.

• Support faculty’s own migration work by providing advice based on pedagogical effectiveness and technological considerations.

• Make recommendations about which courses would most benefit from additional support or intervention.

• Interact with faculty in consultations, workshops, via phone, and via our ticketing system (Service Now).

• Create online and paper documentation and training materials to support migration and course development in Canvas

• Work with the learning management system administrators to provide input into the configuration of the learning management system to support migration and continued use.

• Perform QA duties to ensure that migrated courses meet provided quality guidelines


ID Requirements:


• Degree or certificate in instructional design, or three years of experience as an instructional designer.

• Experience building courses in Canvas.

• Experience with common e-learning creation tools and integration techniques, including Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, Captivate, Kaltura, VoiceThread, Turnitin, Collaborate

• Experience building courses in Blackboard (preferred but not required)

• Experience with higher ed content (preferred but not required)

• Experience building HTML content either via code or Wordpress

• Ability to use graphics libraries and software such as Adobe Illustrator, inDesign, Acrobat to create visually appealing content

• Familiarity with accessibility principles and best practices as it pertains to teaching and learning content

• Ability to troubleshoot

• Ability to analyze root causes of issues

• Ability to train faculty and students

• Ability to generate creative solutions to problems

• Ability to track an issue from the time it is reported to resolution

• Ability to communicate with faculty, students, and CLIENT Academic Technologies team members

Workforce Learning & Development Intern

The Workforce Learning & Development (WL&D) department is a resource for The Home’s organizational development and performance improvement needs, including training and professional development, consultation, facilitation, and internships. Supervision: Supervisor is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who has experience in child welfare, mental health, designing and facilitating trainings.
