The George Murdock Eastern Oregon Regional Child Abuse Conference was created and is coordinated by the Umatilla County District Attorney's Office in partnership with the Guardian Care Center. The month of April was selected for this annual training in recognition of National Child Abuse Prevention Month which has been in existence since proclaimed in 1983. The conference was first held in 2023, as a result of two recognized needs: the need for training for law enforcement specifically focused on the investigation and prosecution of child abuse, in addition to the need for quality trainings that were held in Eastern Oregon.
The principal, or goal, of this conference is to give those involved in child abuse prevention, investigation, and prosecution the best tools possible to do this important work by bringing in speakers that are recognized as experts in their field. These individuals provide the best, and most up to date, information to our attendees.
We hope that this conference creates a space where information is shared, and attendees can network with presenters and each other.
