EDUC 615GR: Teaching & Learning with Technology
"Technology has impacted so many lives for so many years. It is so much more than computers and smartphones. It is cash registers, printers, Ring Doorbells, speech-to-text, and even hands free parking in cars. Technology has truly changed society is more ways than I can even think of. To me, technology has created a world of inventors and turned the world into thinkers. We are constantly thinking of what else can do, how I can change this? How can I improve this? I wonder how many views this will get? I wonder when they will text me back? I find that with technology we are constantly thinking way more about the smallest things that others did not think about before." -- Lisa Martin
"I believe the technological 'Micro aggressions' brought about by different social media racism algorithms are dangerous to those vulnerable and can lead to poor choices with life-long consequences. Many teenagers spend a lot of time online, and constant exposure to algorithmic biases imposes long-term psychological impacts on them. These 'aggressions' border on human rights abuse as the targets do not get much of an option or choice on what they can watch." -- Mirriam Banda
"...Schools should provide a space for students to decide if they want to use some of these technologies through what they refer to as "technology studies." Where deeper research and discussion can take place BEFORE students are told that they have to use a specific tool/program like Meta....I hugely agree that there need to be more consideration given to the role of technology in the lives of students, and students (and parents) should be part of that discussion." -- Alesha Anderson
"...But information technology must be paired with appropriate pedagogy/andragogy that provides learners with needed skill sets, perspective, inspiration and encouragement and with action plans that recognize and respect community interests and technological challenges...." -- Roberta Kilkenny
