The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Massachusetts Amherst hosted its second summer school on Physical Mathematics of Quantum Field Theory during the week of July 17 - 21, 2023. The aim of the workshop is to introduce young researchers on the boundary between mathematics and physics to recent ideas in classical and quantum field theory using notions from complex geometry and algebraic topology. There was a focus on superconformal field theory and its interactions with vertex algebras. (Lecture notes or references are linked below in blue.)
SPEAKERS:
Philip Argyres (University of Cincinnati) - Introduction to superconformal field theory
Reimundo Heluani (Instituto Nacional de Matemática Pura e Aplicada (IMPA)) - Chiral homology of vertex algebras
Monica Kang (California Institute of Technology) - 4d N=2 and 6d N=(0,1) SCFT
Anne Moreau (Université Paris-Saclay) - Vertex algebras and arc spaces (see the forthcoming book for a systematic treatment)
ORGANIZERS: Chris Elliott, Owen Gwilliam, and Samantha Kirk
