Our Lab

RESEARCH

The Oxygen and Muscle Metabolism (O2M lab) studies how the function of blood vessels and muscles (cardiac and skeletal) is affected by the exposure to environmental contaminants/stress or certain medical conditions. We aim to improve the understanding of the biological determinants of health, but also how exposure to some environmental stressors can alters body’s function.

To address these objectives, we use a translational approach  from the cellular level to the whole organism in humans, which encompasses cutting-edge magnetic resonance spectroscopy (31P/1H) and imaging techniques coupled to Ultrasound Doppler, near-infrared spectroscopy, high-resolution respirometry in permeabilized muscle fibers, and a host of molecular and cellular biology techniques.
