MED Service Oppurtunities

Amherst Survival Center: Volunteers help those in families in need to select food, produce, and personal care items in addition to stocking pantry shelves, sorting donated clothing, picking up donations for retail shops, and more. Northampton also runs a Survival Center.

Not Bread Alone: Not Bread Alone is a local soup kitchen at the First Congregational Church in Downtown Amherst. Before volunteering, you need to sign up here to make sure that the volunteer cap has not been reached.

Homework House of Holyoke: The Homework House of Holyoke provides free tutoring and mentoring for children living in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods. Tutors are required to submit an application, CORI forms, and commit four hours a week to tutoring. The online application is having technical issues, so here is the email of Ashley, the volunteer coordinator, <aberthiaume@homeworkhouseholyoke.org>

Hey Sam Crisis Text Hotline: Each day, people who struggle with loneliness, depression, or suicidal feelings turn to Samaritans’ Hey Sam text line for nonjudgmental support. On the other side of their text message, they find a caring listener ready to provide compassion. You can be that caring listener!
