Welcome! As I tie up the loose ends of employment, I realize I've let the community calendar fall behind. As I enter the joy of retirement, I want to have this calendar for my own use to keep track of the million fun things going on in my region that I might like to attend. I'm listing primarily low-cost or free events without alcohol that contribute to community health broadly defined. It should be back up to speed by June 2025. Want to help me populate the list? Free Summer programs: Program and series summary info at the top, then day-by-day

Worcester Fitness in the Parks is a free, 12-week program presented by the City of Worcester Department of Health & Human Services and Blue Cross Blue Shield of MA in partnership with the YWCA Central Massachusetts and YMCA of Central Massachusetts. The program runs from June 9 through August 30, Mondays through Saturdays at 8 locations. Summer Fitness Series | City of Worcester for details, updates, cancellations and schedule changes.

Community Coalition/Taskforce standing meetings

City of Worcester Taskforce on Food Security (shared document drive) meets monthly via Zoom from 9am to 10am on the second Tuesday
Central MA SNAP Coalition meets second Thursdays from 10-11am via this Zoom link.
Worcester Region Refugee Welcoming Network Quarterly Consultation Meeting. Meets the second Thursday of the month in January, April, July and October, by Zoom. To get on the invitation list, contact Bernard Habimana at Ascentria.
- The Undocumented Immigrant Task Force meets the first Thursday of every month at 4pm. Contact Anne Bureau to be added to the list (or Dr. Haley for an invite to the next meeting.)
Coalition for a Healthy Greater Worcester has several standing committees, with more details on the website; to be added to the outlook invitation contact Miss Chantel. Subcommittees include:
- Racism and Discrimination Committee: first Wednesday of the month from 1:30-3.
- Policy and Advocacy Committee: second Wednesday of the month at noon.
- Community Engagement Committee: fourth Monday of the month from 10-11:30.
Worcester Healthy Baby Collaborative meets quarterly, usually on a Monday from 8-10am. Find upcoming meeting dates and more at their website.
Joint Coalition on Health for North Central MA (JCOH) meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of each month from 9-10 am via zoom. "We invite all who seek to be catalysts for change and advocates for the underserved to join us. "
CHNA9 North Central MA Health Equity Partnership leads working groups for the North Central Community Health Improvement Plan. Their website is robust and includes an excellent calendar worth exploring. Among their standing groups:
- Safe and Healthy Relationships: first Thursdays from 9:30-10:30. Contact Dr. Deborah Stone at FItchburg State University to be added to the invitation.
Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) Worcester meets the first Wednesday of the month at 6:30. Ask Dr. Haley for details on this group and/or to connect with the North Central MA Chapter.

The Worcester Writers' Collective: 6:00 PM. JMAC. 20 Franklin St. This group of creatives who meet every Tuesday at 6:00 pm in the JMAC to sustain and share a passion for writing. Writers of all genres and levels of experience are encouraged to join, as is anyone interested in reading and discussing work collaboratively. Public Tours of the America Antiquarian Society. Weekly on Wednesdays, 3-4pm until December 20th. 185 Salisbury St, Worcester, MA 01609. The American Antiquarian Society is both a learned society and a national research library of pre-twentieth-century American history and culture. Founded in 1812, it is the oldest historical society in the United States with a national focus.

Veterans' Claims Assistance: 2nd and 4th Saturdays, 9a-1p, at Project New Hope, 70 James St, Rm 129A, a National Accredited Veteran Service Officer (VSO) with Vietnam Veterans of America will be available to talk with Veterans & Widowers about filing claims for benefits
