Our project aims to help the Umass Wrestling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Clubs improve upon their process of raising and lowering wrestling mats using the existing hoisting system found in the Recreation Center. We designed a wooden prototype of an analogous hoisting system, coupled with a DC motor to lower and raise a 3d printed cylinder, representing a wrestling mat. We then implemented a React Interface and Arduino Programming allowing for control over the motor via virtual up and down buttons. We used the Makerboard and L298n Motor Controller to achieve this. Lastly, we completed the basic circuitry required to control a drill motor via our application.
