Monday 9/23: 3-3 Practice problems (solutions). A video that may help. And another.
Friday 9/20: 3-3 Linear and Angular Velocity (solutions); 3-3 Practice problems (solutions). A video that may help. And another.
Assign: Section 3-3 (part 1): p137-140 Practice Exercises #1, 5, 6, 9, 10, 13, 15, 19, 21. (due Wednesday)
1. 1 rev = 2pi radians
5-6. Use 1 rev = 2pi radians and 1 min = 60 sec
9-10. Use 1 rev = 2pi radians and 1 min = 60 sec
13-15. Use V =rw. Make sure to get the units correct.
19-21. Convert degrees to radians and use V = r*theta/t. Make sure to get the units correct.
3.3 hwk solutions (part 1)
Assign: Section 3-3 (part 2): pp137-140 Practice Exercises #25, 27, 31, 33, 35, *41, *43, *45. *challenging (due Thursday)
25. These are both angular velocities. Use dimensional analysis to get the units correct.
27. Convert degrees to radians and use V = r*theta/t. Make sure to get the units correct.
31. Convert diameter to radius (divide by 2). Convert revolutions to radians, then use V =rw.
33. one real solution: Discriminant = 0 , two real solutions: Discriminant > 0, no real solutions: Discriminant < 0
35. Consider the radius.
41. With the smaller pulley use V =rw to get V. Then once you know V, use V =rw to find the angular velocity of the bigger pulley.
43. radius = 4340 mi. theta = 2pi radians. time = 95 mins, convert to hours. Use V = r*theta/t. Make sure to get the units correct.
45. radius = 4210 mi. theta = 2pi radians. time = 24 hours. Use V = r*theta/t. Make sure to get the units correct.
3.3 hwk solutions (part 2)
Thursday 9/19: Finish task cards activity. Deltamath-- radians and degrees. Get hwks 3-1 and 3-2 done.
Wednesday 9/18: In class: Arc Length and Sector Area task cards activity.
section 3-2: 130 #1-29 odds, 30, 35-36. *23, 25 are challenge problems (practice exercises --due Fri)
1-13. pi RAD = 180 DEGREES
15. s = r θ, remember θ is in RADIANS
17. Part of the circumference of a circle.
19. Convert RAD to DEG
21. Convert RAD to DEG
*23, *25. Convert to decimal-degrees first.
27, 29. Part of the circumference of a circle.
30. Just the last problem backwards.
35. 50/360 of the circle’s area.
36. 210/360 of the circle’s area. 3.2 solutions
Tuesday 9/17: practice worksheet (solutions)
Assign: section 3-1: pp123-125 #1, 5, 7, 9, *15-*16, *19-*20, 25-26, 45-46. (practice exercises--due Wed)
*15-16, 19-20 are optional enrichment problems--- enrichment video: Converting to degrees-minutes-seconds
1, 5, 7, 9. clockwise = negative, counterclockwise = positive
*15-16. 60 minutes = 1 degree, 60 seconds = 1 minute, 3600 seconds = 1 degree. Very much like time.
*19-20. Multiply min by 60.
25-26. Graph the line but start at the origin.
45. 1 rev = 360 deg
46. Draw a good pic. 3.1 solutions
