University of Makati is a University of Character.
And we, in ISDNB upholds the NSTP core values: Maka-Diyos, Makatao, Makakalikasan at Makabansa.
ISDNB is the center in-charge of the delivery of the National Service Training Program which is designed to enhance the civic consciousness of students by developing the value and commitment for the welfare and betterment of the lives of all members of the community. It also aims to strengthen the students’ participation in the program and activities intended to uplift the different dimensions of development.
NSTP1 programs are consist of seven (7) dimensions, namely: a) Safety and Security; b) Education; c) Recreation; d) Values Formation and Moral Recovery; e) Industry and Entrepreneurship; f) Care for Health; and g) Environmental Awareness.
The NSTP2 (Community Immersion) is intended for community exposure and for implementation of community plans and projects which will develop the student’s value of volunteerism, commitment and resourcefulness.
Furthermore, both NSTP 1 and 2 are committed to imbibe good citizenship values of being maka-Diyos, makatao, maka-kalikasan, and maka-bansa.
The ISDNB shall be an effective provider of a comprehensive range of programs in criminal justice education and public safety preparedness, socio-civic actions and community development initiatives for our students, community and industry partners to make a real positive impact in the lives of our stakeholders.
The effective delivery of instruction and extension programs of the Institute shall develop the ethics of service of our students in establishing a range of nation-building curricular programs through campus, industry and community partnership and shared resources in order to meet real community needs, empower people, address societal problems and inspire students to serve and share.
The core values of NSTP enumerated below were based on the promotion of Filipino values embodied in the Preamble of the 1987 Constitution.
Maka-Diyos is the value of Filipinos that shows their faith in God who is their source of perseverance and courage in facing obstacles in life. As a core value, NSTP is committed to instill to the students the essence of spiritual life in nation building.
Makatao is the value of Filipinos in the promotion and practice of truth, justice, freedom, equality, and peace. These are the adopted by the NSTP to enhance and/or develop among students the importance of responsibility and commitment, respect of people’s culture, community spirit, compassion, unity and vigilance.
Maka-Kalikasan is the concern and love for the environment which specifically concern with the conservation and development of the nation’s patrimony. As a core value in the NSTP curriculum, students are encouraged to help green the Land, clean the Air, and freshen the Water (LAW).
Maka-bansa is the Filipino values which emphasis is on respect for law, the government of the Republic of the Philippines and its instrumentalities, patriotism, promotion of the common good, and building a just and humane society. As an NSTP core value, students are encouraged to promote and practice fairness, love of country and respect for human dignity, and obedience to the law.
