London Summer Leagues 2022
London Summer League is finally returning! This is a great opportunity to get back on the field and play more Ultimate.
This year, things are going to be a little different. We have a teams-league based at Dulwich (we'll probably do a few more hat-nights too - watch out for news), and a hat-league run by Curve, based at Clissold Park.
Dulwich Sports Club: Wednesdays and Thursdays, 7pm until dark.
Clissold Park: Wednesdays and Thursdays, two game slots (18:30 and 19:30); there may be some games on Tuesdays depending on numbers
Summer League for teams (Dulwich)
We're hoping to start league fixtures from Wednesday, June 16th, with teams either playing on Wednesday or Thursday. The number of fixtures will depend on the number of teams that enter. Sign-up as a team here https://forms.gle/5vZ998FLXJqXUTAb8. The deadline for team sign-ups is Sunday, June 13th at 23:59.
Individuals looking for a team: please use this form.
By default, we're planning that all LSL fixtures will count towards the UKU Challenge League - find out more about the Challenge League here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jX80YEkATHQ&list=PLHG2h5XSSyAPsBWmCyktxhO1sKf9oo1fL

London Summer League is organised and coordinated by a small group of volunteers who give up some time to help Si each year. If you have any questions about summer league, please get in touch and we'll do our best to help you.
A lot of games are played each year, and we can only be at a small fraction of them in person, so if an issue arises at a game please let us know, otherwise we are likely to remain blissfully unaware of any problems.
You can contact us by emailing london@ukultimate.com (will be forwarded to relevant person) or as follows:
Si Hill (finance and other admin): 07802 311 298, si.hill@ukultimate.com

If you would like to get involved or help please let us know. In particular we need help with communications, tracking results and social events.
The London Ultimate Summer League accepts entries from teams rather than individual players. Your team may already be established, or you may decide to throw a team together especially for the league. If you're interested in playing but don't have a team, please email london@ukultimate.com.

Each team needs two or three players to act as “team contact”. These players need not be the team’s captain, or the person who formed the team (although it usually is one of these). The team contact is responsible for all communications with the organisers, and with other teams. The “TC” returns results and spirit scores after each game and coordinates with other team contacts if there are scheduling problems. It is therefore vital that the team contact has good email and mobile phone access. If a game is called off or the schedule changed (which can happen at short notice due to weather etc.) we need to be able to inform you.
All team contacts must sign up to the London League mailing list and will be signed up to the lsl-contacts mailing list (see the section on "Staying in touch").
If, part-way through the season, you find you are temporarily or permanently unable to carry on as team contact (e.g. leaving the country, loss of email, etc.) please find another player to take over as TC and notify us as soon as possible.
Being a team contact is not usually that demanding a job. It’s just talking to people (set up a team mailing list or Facebook group to make things easier). With a bit of organisation, most teams get through summer league without any hassles.

London Ultimate Summer Hat League (LUSH)
Welcome to London Ultimate Summer Hat League 2021, presented by London Summer League and Curve Ultimate!
Sign up as an individual by clicking on the button at the bottom of this page and filling in the form. Based on the signups we will create evenly balanced teams. Those teams will play a series of matches against each other throughout the summer!
Matches will be held at Clissold Park (https://w3w.co/flies.fancy.forced). Unlike previous years, we haven't been able to get the council to paint lines for us, but we have a cunning plan to get some lines anyway!
Matches will be held on Wednesday and Thursday nights. Depending on the number of teams, we may need to hold some matches on Tuesday nights too. Each team will play one match per week. We aim to fit in 2x60 minute games per night with games starting at either 18:30 or 19:30. We aim to hold the first fixtures during the week of 21st June, and the league will run until 19th August.
Our aim is to be able to run all matches as Mixed games. Whether this is possible depends on the gender ratio of the sign-ups - we will re-evaluate the exact rules in this area once we know who has signed up! Matches will be played 7v7. We will aim to give each team enough players that they should have subs for each fixture. Matches will be 60 minutes or first to 11. Half-time when one team reaches 6 points. Matches will be played using the WFDF Rules of Ultimate, but modified by UK Ultimate's Return to Play Guidance (Phase D). Basically the main difference is that the stall count is called by someone on the sideline rather than by the mark.
All players must have at least Basic UKU Membership.
Players must be aged 18+. If you want to bring players younger than 18 along, please email info@curveultimate.co.uk.
London Summer League is run under the umbrella of UK Ultimate (UKU). This gives us the following benefits:
Liability cover for the organisers and players. We have a responsibility to ensure that everyone within it is adequately protected. By being part of UKU we are able to use their cover to protect the league.
Any surplus from the running costs of the Summer League stay within the sport. UKU can use this to aid development of Ultimate and targets these funds specifically towards London.
UKU is better able to pay up-front booking costs on the fields, and take the financial risk if fewer teams enter than normal.
By bringing the league and its players into UKU we add further credibility to the sport. When we try and access funding from the government, attract sponsors from the private sector or attempt to have influence within the WFDF, we need to be able to demonstrate the size of the game in the UK.
Entry fee is £10. For this you'll get 9 weeknight matches of Ultimate. There will be prizes for the winners at the end of the competition, and each team will get a disc to give to the most spirited player on their team.
In order to take part you must have at least Basic UKU membership. This costs £6.50 for the year if you don't already have it. UKU membership is available from here.
