Welcome to GB Futures

Unfortunately we have been unable to continue running GB Futures as we had initially envisaged the programme, and we won't be running any further hub training sessions. Don't miss out on opportunities for young players - check out the UKU events calendar, sign up to the UKU newsletter or follow us on social media. If you are a parent, teacher, coach or young person and want more information about playing Ultimate, please email admin@ukultimate.com.

What is the GB Futures Programme?

Raise your game! GB Futures provides more access to coached, competitive Ultimate training for players in our U24, U20 and U17 age-groups. Players will join regional “training hubs” 8-10 times per year to train with their peers, working with a variety of coaches and experienced players. We will provide you with coaching, information and connections to help you offer more to whichever teams you play for now and in the future. Is this something you would like to be a part of?

Who?

We want to hear from players across the age-range (Year 8 to U24) who want opportunities to be coached and to develop as Ultimate players.

We encourage all interested players to reach out directly to their closest hub to find out more!

We're always looking for enthusiastic organisers and coaches who want an opportunity to work with keen, young, developing players.

We have lots of opportunities to get involved, so whether you're looking to help out at one or two sessions, or get involved in one of the hub committee's please get in touch!

Where?

We've identified ten different areas in which we intend to locate hubs. We hope that over time we will be able to do more, and especially to provide more for younger athletes. There are two or three areas in which we have capacity for both over and under 18 groups, and those groups work fairly closely together. Elsewhere, where it isn't yet possible to separate the age groups, hubs are likely to have some u18 players until the younger group is big enough to operate on its own.

Why?

Our goal is to build a meaningful and enjoyable training pathway based on regional training hubs around the UK. These hubs can operate somewhat independently of each other to offer opportunities for young players to access high level coaching experiences. While some young players have plenty of opportunity already, many don't. The regional training hubs will combine age-groups to help achieve viable numbers in all areas of the UK.

Building this programme will make a lasting difference to our ability to support young, ambitious and talented Ultimate players to become the best they can be, and to be part of successful national and club teams.
