Welcome to the Primary Care Medicine (PCM) posting E-Learning Platform for the Undergraduate Students, Faculty of Medicine UiTM.
Primary Care Medicine is a component of the health care system, which provides initial contact, continuing, comprehensive, coordinated, evidence-based medical care for all individuals, families and communities. It integrates current biomedical, psychological and social understanding of health.
Primary Care Medicine involves the ability to treat patient as a whole person and take responsible action on any problem the patient presents. It provides the first point of contact for the majority of people seeking health care. The Primary Care Physician often deals with problem complexes rather than with established diseases.
Primary Care Physician often works in a team with other Primary Health Care Team members in a Health Clinic. Referrals may be made to doctors in other specialties, health care professionals and other community services appropriately.
"An ongoing therapeutic doctor-patient relationship is an essential part of a successful Primary Health Care Service"
