After he obtained his diploma, he then continue his study in Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Hons.) at Universiti Teknologi MARA, Shah Alam, Selangor in 2001. Thereafter, he flew and pursued his tertiary education in Master of Science, specifically in Computational Mechanics of Materials and Structures (COMMAS) at Universität Stuttgart in 2005. The topic of his Master of Science (MSc) thesis was "Numerical simulation of a diaphragm wall panel" under the supervision of Dipl.-Ing. Annette Lächler, Syawal Satibi and Prof. Dr.-Ing. P. A. Vermeer. Then, he officially registered as a PhD candidate in Civil Engineering in Universiti Teknologi MARA, Shah ALam, Selangor in 2014. Finally, he successfully completed his PhD study in January 2020. His PhD thesis topis was "Numerical Analysis of Protected and Unprotected Cellular Steel Beams (CSB) at Elevated Temperature" under the supervision of Ts. Dr. Ir. Renga Rao Krishnamoorthy and Prof. Dr. Azmi Ibrahim.
Fariz Aswan Ahmad Zakwan is a senior lecturer of Structural & Material Engineering (STRUCM) division at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Cawangan Pulau Pinang, 13500 Permatang Pauh, Pulau Pinang. Fariz Aswan does research in Civil Engineering and Structural Engineering, particularly steel and concrete structures. In addition, his research related to finite element analysis (FEA) simulation on steel and concrete structures at elevated temperatures. His current project is 'Structural performance of cellular steel beam (CSB) at elevated temperature' and other focused research related to fire exposure and static loading. Currently, he utilizing commercially available FEA tools, namely General Purpose ABAQUS Finite Element Software and ANSYS Mechanical FEA Software.
