BACK TO SCHOOL INFORMATION

2019-2020 SCHOOL YEAR

The following information will assist you and your children beginning the 2019-2020 school year.

For the safety of individual students as well as to assist the District in better serving students, the District must have on file in the school office: current telephone numbers (i.e. home, work, emergency), current home and mailing address, and current signatures of parent/guardian(s) for authorization purposes. It is also important that the district have updated health information on file for all students enrolled.

Students being enrolled in the public schools of Evanston for the first time should bring copies of birth certificate, immunization records and, when appropriate, records from previous school attended. There will be a form provided during enrollment activities for parents to authorize the school to request records from previous schools.

At the time of registration, students will be provided student supply lists and updated information pertaining to the student’s school and school procedures. Free and Reduced Priced Meal Applications will be available and school fees, when appropriate, may be paid. Parents are encouraged to deposit money into their student's lunch account before August 26, 2019 at their respective schools. Supply lists are also available at local stores or on the district website at www.uinta1.com

Delayed Start Mondays: Every Monday morning the starting time of each school will be delayed by one hour. The delay will allow the K-12 instructional staff time to participate in professional development focusing on instruction and collaboration while working on standards and assessments. Bus schedules, breakfast, and student supervision will all be delayed by one hour. Please contact your building principal for additional details.

Online Fees and Registration: Parents will be expected to log in to PowerSchool to complete the necessary registration forms. These options will provide efficiency and convenience for parents, as well as much needed cost savings and time for the district. Directions for online registration and fee payment will be available on the school district and school websites. www.uinta1.com

PowerSchool access is turned off during the summer, but will be available again in August. If you do not have a PowerSchool account, or you do not remember your login information, you will need to contact your child’s school.

REGISTRATION-OPEN HOUSES

Parent’s assistance in registering/re-registering their student(s) prior to the first day of school on August 26, 2019 will greatly assist the District in providing for the needs of the students and for a smooth opening of the 2019-2020 School Year.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS REGISTRATION:

New Students may be registered at all elementary schools during the weeks of August 12-23 during regular working hours of 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Registration for all returning students, all grade levels will be online this year. Please watch your email for information from UCSD#1 for when our registration opens online.

The first day of classes in Uinta County School District Number One for all students is August 26, 2019.

Attendance Areas

Please contact the appropriate level school nearest your home or the Educational Service Center at 789-7571 for attendance boundaries and attendance area information. Contact the Transportation Department for busing information in your attendance area.

School Breakfast/Lunch

School Lunch and a school sponsored breakfast program will be available again this year.

Applications for free or reduced breakfast/lunches will be available at the District Food Service Office at the Horizon Complex after July 1, 2019 and at individual school offices after August 12, 2019. Completed applications must be returned to the District Food Service Office before August 26, 2019 to prevent possible interruption of student meal benefits.

Parents are encouraged to pay on student lunch accounts in advance before August 26, 2019 at their respective schools or use our online pay system located on our district website at www.uinta1.com.

Transportation for In-Town Middle School and High School Students

Transportation will be provided for some areas in town for middle school and high school students, per state requirements. Central pick up points in these areas will be used extensively. For more bus route information, please contact the Transportation Department at 789-6216.

Transportation or Maintenance of Isolated Students

Those who qualify under the Isolation Policies (W.S. 21-4-401) may contact the Transportation Department for Uinta County School District Number One for information.

Mandatory Immunization Law

Immunization is mandatory for all students, kindergarten through grade twelve, who attend school. This is in accordance with the regulations of the State Department of Health and the laws of the State of Wyoming. Every child in the school district, including children entering school for the first time, must have a verified record of having received the required immunizations. Students not meeting this requirement will be enrolled only under the condition that appropriate immunizations are received within 30 calendar days.

Medical and religious exemption from immunization must be obtained by submitting the proper application to the Wyoming Department of Health in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Forms are available from the County Health Office, the Wyoming Department of Health and school nurses.

For specific information regarding types of immunization required, please contact your personal physician, the Uinta County Public Health Office or your school nurse. Persons without a physician whose students need immunizations may contact the Uinta County Public Health Office at 789-9203.

DISTRIBUTION OF NON-SCHOOL INFORMATION

Patrons, businesses and non-school activity groups are required by Board Policy to adhere to the following procedure for placement of all information, including fliers and/or posters in the schools:

Fill out the request form at the office of the Superintendent for prior written approval;
The written approval should be presented to the Principal or secretary at each building.

Public/Press Release for Free and Reduced Price Meals

Uinta County School District Number One today announced its policy for free and reduced price meals for children unable to pay the full price of meals served under the National School Lunch, and School Breakfast Program. Each school and the District Food Service Office at the Horizon Complex, 164 Yellow Creek Road, have a copy of the policy, which may be reviewed by any interested party.

Application forms are available to all homes with a letter to parents/guardians. To apply for free or reduced price meals, households must fill out the application and return it to the school or the District Food Service Office. Additional copies are available at the principal’s office in each school and at the District Food Service Office, 164 Yellow Creek Road. The information provided on the application will be used for the purpose of determining eligibility and may be verified at any time during the school year by other program officials. Eligibility will be determined within 10 days after receipt of the application in the District Food Service Office.

Applications may be submitted anytime during the year.

Under the provisions of the free and reduced price policy, the Eligibility Official will review applications and determine eligibility. Parents or guardians dissatisfied with the ruling of the official may wish to discuss the decision with the determining official on an informal basis. Parents wishing to make a formal appeal may make a request either orally or in writing to the Superintendent of Schools, PO Box 6002, Evanston, Wyoming 82931-6002, 789-7571 for a hearing on the decision.

If a household member becomes unemployed or if the household size increases, the household should complete an application for free or reduced priced meal benefits. The household may now be eligible for benefits if the household’s income is at or below the levels shown above.

In certain cases foster children are also eligible for school meal benefits. If a household wishes to apply for benefits for foster children living with them, the household should contact the school for more information.

The information provided by the household is confidential and will be used only for purposes of determining eligibility and verifying data.

School officials cannot approve an application for free or reduced price benefits unless it contains complete documentation. Households not receiving food stamp or TANF benefits must provide: Names of all household members, last four digits of the social security number of the adult signing the form and the income each person receives. An adult household member must sign the application certifying that the information provided is correct. Households receiving food stamps or TANF benefits must provide the child’s name, his/her food stamp, or TANF case number and the signature and name of an adult household member.
