The Institute is designed to give students and their faculty mentors the opportunity to work on their scholastic endeavors for three weeks during Spring Term in May. This is an excellent opportunity for students to engage in cutting-edge research that they intend to continue the following academic year, including work for academic credit and Honors theses after completion of the Student Research Institute. Funding is competitive; spaces are limited and applications will be evaluated on their merit.
As a student participant, students will receive a $1,500 stipend.
Faculty members will receive a $500 stipend. The faculty member must have direct availability each day to work with each student you mentor during the SRI.
Interested students, and their mentors, must both apply and commit to working during the entire length of Spring Term (May 6 - 24, 2024). Students will give a formal presentation of their work at the end of the program and will be required to participate in activities held by the Shaheen College of Arts and Sciences to share their work and progress in the following academic year. Mentors may be asked to give a short presentation on their scholarship to the SRI student cohort in May.
Funding is graciously provided by the Shaheen College of Arts & Sciences for Shaheen College students and faculty. If you have questions, please contact Dr. Brett Leonard, leonardba@uindy.edu.
