Functionality of the extensor digitorum communis tendon.

The digit is composed of complex system of tensons that cause flexion and extension of joints enabling refined manipulation of objects. The extensor digitorum communs tendon has a complext structure, in correspondence to the metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joint which is divided into lateral bands, a central slip, and supported by elements such as triangular ligament (TL), transverse oblique ligament (TOL), and transverse relinacular ligament (TRL).
