iEdge: Intelligent Edge Computing for Data-Rich Applications

Co-located with IFIP Performance 2023

Northwestern University, Evanston, IL

November 17, 2023

Massive amount of data is generated at edge networks with the emerging self-driving cars, drones, robots, smartphones, wireless sensors, smart meters, health monitoring devices. This vast data is expected to be processed to provide data-rich edge systems and applications, which is extremely challenging with the existing centralized cloud. Transmitting such massive data to the centralized cloud, and expecting timely processing are not realistic with limited bandwidth between the edge network and the centralized cloud. An approach that has potential to address a number of problems in this space is edge computing, where data is processed at the end devices and edge servers, with possible help from the cloud. This workshop solicits research papers that focus on recent advances in edge computing and systems.

Topics of interest include but are not limited to:

 -       System Architectures for Edge Computing

-        Serverless, In-network Computing

-        Distributed AI/ML at the Edge

-        Split Learning at the Edge

-        Decentralized Learning at the Edge

-        Coded Computation for Edge Analytics

-        Edge Storage Systems

-        Security and Trust Management

-        Privacy-Preserving Analytics

-        AI/ML-Based Resource management at the Edge

-        Trustworthy AI at the Edge

-        Dynamic Edge Neural Networks

-        Distributed Consensus Algorithms

Paper Submissions (Archival Papers):

Authors are invited to submit original unpublished papers not under review elsewhere. Submissions will be subjected to a peer-review process. The accepted workshop papers are published in ACM Performance Evaluation Review (PER). All submissions should be written in English with draft papers up to ten (10) printed pages not including references. You are recommended to use the Elsevier article class elsarticle.cls (with the 3p document class option) to prepare your manuscript and BibTeX to generate your bibliography. See also the guide for authors here. Please submit your papers via HotCRP

Paper Submissions (Short Non-Archival Papers):

We also invite authors to submit their recent work on the topics of interest. These papers will not be published in any formal proceedings, so previously published papers are also welcome. All submissions should be written in English with draft papers up to four (4) printed pages not including references. You are recommended to use the Elsevier article class elsarticle.cls (with the 3p document class option) to prepare your manuscript and BibTeX to generate your bibliography. See also the guide for authors here. Please submit your papers via HotCRP
