Housing and Travel

Travel Info:

Chicago is a central travel hub, so getting to the city shouldn't be too hard. Within the city you can take the CTA, Chicago's public transit. Tickets and day/weekend passes are available at all the airports and train stations.

Getting to Campus:

The conference will be held in the Science and Engineering Offices (SEO) building, on the southwestern edge of UIC's East Campus.

From ORD, take the Blue Line train south to the UIC-Halsted stop, then walk south. Total travel time is around 1 hour (plus waiting time).

From MDW, there are a couple options. Take the Orange Line train towards the loop; at Clark/Lake you can transfer to the Blue Line (towards Forest Park) and get off at the UIC-Halsted stop. Alternatively, you can get off the Orange Line at Halsted and take the 8 bus north. Total travel time is around 1 hour (plus waiting time).

From the Central Station, take the 60 bus westward from Clinton and Jackson to the 900 W Harrison stop, then walk south. Alternatively, the westbound 157 bus will drop you off right outside SEO at the Taylor/Morgan stop. Total travel time is about 15 minutes (plus waiting time).

If you are planning to drive, please contact the organizers so we can arrange parking passes for you.

Housing:

The closest hotel to campus is the Crowne Plaza. $163/night for a king, $172/night for two doubles. Crowne Plaza is about 15-20 minutes walking from campus, or you can take the 8 bus along Halsted.

Chicago has an enormous number of hotels, hostels, and Airbnb's, especially if you are willing to stay slightly further from campus, so it is worth doing some digging.
