Internship Information

GLAS off-campus internships are for current UIC undergraduate students. Internship sites have been curated by contacting over 30 community organizations around Chicago to assess their needs and capacity to host student interns.  Learn about host organizations and internship opportunities by scrolling through the list below.  Organizations are listed alphabetically. Click on the organization's name to see their website.

The fall semester 2023 internships listed below are for academic credit and are unpaid unless otherwise noted.  Students complete internship responsibilities either for 4 hours (1 credit) or 8 hours (2 credits) a week. Simultaneously, students enroll in GLAS 495, a 1 credit hour internship practicum class with Prof. Karen Su to complete coursework related to the community issues the internship hosting organization addresses. Therefore, an intern working for 4 hours/week will receive 2 credits and an intern working for 8 hours/week will receive 3 credits once the internship is combined with the practicum.

To apply, fill out our online application form. Applications will be accepted on a rolling admissions basis until Friday, April 28, 2023. Internships would start the first week of class during the fall semester (the week of Aug, 21, 2023). Please submit your application as soon as you are ready so placement matching can begin.

This initiative is made possible through the UIC AANAPISI Initiative, which is fully funded by the U.S. Dept. of Education’s Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institutions program.
