We can notice how there is a massive drop in ridership past the 3rd week of March 2020 and that is a trend that continued for more than a year. This was due to the pandemic causing a state lockdown where people would not be able to socially gather and most businesses and jobs moved online.
Comparing the data from 2000 - 2005 versus 2010 - 2015 we can see that the overall number of rides has significantly increased (almost doubling). This might suggest an overall shift in people's mentality towards public transportation and more people being willing not only to commute but to do so through public transportation.
With good reason, O'Hare was the most popular train stations based on number of rides. This could be attributed to a couple factors such as: avoiding traffic and parking difficulties at the actual O-Hare airport. It is safe to assume that huge majority of people getting on the O'Hare station were those meant to go to the airport to go from the airport back home.
Based on the data from the number of rides based on the weekdays we can see that there are much fewer rides on the weekends since the public transportation seems to be used most for commuting to work or to school.
